Weekend Makeover at The Bungalow Pocklington

Having decided that the out door living area needed some tender loving care, I took my self off to Langlands to buy lavender. I later returned £55 lighter, how does that happen?!

Landlands is a large garden centre at Shiptonthorpe about 6 miles to the south east of Pocklington on the A1078 Hull Road. It has lots of gorgeous things to buy, along with a lovely cafe.

Since the next door hedge took a severe haircut, I felt the seating area on the patio had lost a little privacy, so I installed some bamboo screening along one side. I’m loving the effect, it makes it more of a sun trap than it already was.

I’m also loving the ladybugs and the bumble bee climbing up the screen.

The next step was to brighten up the old dolly tub in the corner that was hosting a fine selection of weeds.

The tub has been drilled for water drainage and I’ve planted it with English Lavender and Clematis. I’m hoping the Clematis will grow up the trellis and also the other direction to spill over the railings.

Next I installed the BBQ stand that Gavin made. Precision engineering in stainless steel at its best!

Finally I snapped a couple of pictures of the garden for the website, as I’d had some feedback from a guest that they hadn’t realised there was a garden.

Pock Rocked …. Beautiful South at Pocklington Arts Centre Review

What a lucky town we are.

Every time I go to Pocklington Arts Centre it reminds me just what an awesome place we have here.

Last night was no exception, The South put on an outstanding performance and had the whole place on their feet dancing away.

The South have always been in my top 10 must listen to bands, so when I was walking through Pocklington a few weeks ago and saw they were playing, I got out my phone to take a picture and send it to Tessie, as I knew she’d love to see them. Strangely, and I do believe it fate, coincidences and all that weird stuff, Tessie just happened to walk by at that exact same moment, so tickets were purchased on the spot.

When great British pop institution, The Beautiful South split in 2007, some members of the band didn’t feel ready to hang up their microphones or instruments just yet… And so The South embarked on their journey. Celebrating the Beautiful South legacy and great songs of their own, the band continues performing the classic songs including: A Little Time – the number one single, Perfect 10RotterdamOld Red EyesGood as GoldDon’t Marry Her. Their live show promises to continue to celebrate and perform the classic Beautiful South songs along with songs from The South’s debut album ‘Sweet Refrains

The evening began with a jolly nice tea time special at The Feathers, and ended with a selfie in the Black Bull with the lead singer Alison Wheeler, what a night, thank you Pocklington Arts Centre and all who sail in her!
